Song for Voice and Piano

PROGRAM NOTE

This work is a short and austere setting of a poetic fragment by Emily Brontë. I was particularly interested in her description of light breaking through monotone gray.

TEXT

Iron Clouds

Still as she looked the iron clouds would part
And sunlight shown between
But drearily strange and pale and cold

-Emily Brontë
